'Bucha's Brew' kombucha branding and packaging design 

Brief: Create an identity for a female owned kombucha company with a strong shelf impact

 

Demographic: 35-45 year old health-conscious professionals with ‘craft fatigue’

​

Solution: The name was coined as an ode to the magical craft of the kombucha fermentation process, and the identity puts the live cultures at centre stage, celebrating their magical properties. 

Independent Lifestyle rebrand and website design

Editorial were concerned that a number of articles on the site weren't being read, or had a high bounce rate. They wanted to improve this number by reviewing the complexity of the section and simplifying it.

I presented a refreshed design of the site, creating more space around each article by using fewer images to reduce clutter. I used the Lifestyle red sparingly in order to direct focus, and I utilised a more systematic approach
to categorising the content to ensure a smoother
user experience 

Recorder branding
and campaign design

Brief: change the perception of the recorder, and reposition it as a covetable and edgy instrument. 

​

Demographic: 25-30 year old discerning music enthusiasts with a penchant for DJs.

​

Solution: I designed an event where high-profile DJs perform using sampled sounds created with the recorder. The visual language of the event incorporates the modulation effect displayed on the interface of music production software, and uses circles to represent the universal symbol for recording as well as the holes on a recorder.

Brief: Create a new identity for the Independent Lifestyle team to span both the serious and mature content as well as the lighter hearted content. Identity must incorporate brand values of intelligent, empowering and inclusive, whilst maintaining a solid connection to The Independent brand.

Demographic: mid-30s professionals

​

Solution: After extensive competitor research, I developed a paired back brand identity, with a closer connection to the parent brand. I used a visual metaphor of ripples to reflect the empowering and wide-reaching aspects of the brand. I introduced two new shades of the ‘Indy’ red colour palette, a richer burgundy to show a mature side to the brand, and a soft pink for the lighter lifestyle content.

Pub of the Year concept and campaign design

Brief: Develop an identity for a new Evening Standard Pub of the Year awards

Demographic: Affluent, aged 35 and above 

​

Solution: I developed a concept using the warmer colours of the Evening Standard brand palette, encapsulating the fanfare of an awards event with a modern look. The design was inspired by Armin Hofmann’s clean and modern Swiss design with a the palette reminiscent of poster designs for the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Alive and Kicking website
and corporate report design

Brief: Redesign the visual identity for football charity Alive and Kicking that reflects the vitality and dynamism of the company.

​

Demographic: philanthropists, football fans

​

Solution: Using retro football shirts and traditional Kenyan fabric for pattern inspiration, I used a vibrant complimentary colour palette, and a photo treatment that brings the people at the centre of the charity’s focus to life. 

Otl Aicher typeface

and exhibition design

Brief: Design an Otl Aicher exhibition for the Museum of Contemporary Art. Visual language must be heavily influenced by Aicher’s style with a modern interpretation. 

​

Demographic: Culture vultures and design enthusiasts. 

​

Solution: I designed a geometric typeface using a strict grid system as per Otl Aicher’s style and used this methodology to inform the visual language for the event.
